SmartPoS Merchant Setup Guide
Register Your Terminal to Your Merchant Account (Merchant-Level Linking)
This process registers your terminal directly to your personal Tap merchant account. This setup is for Terminal-Initiated Transactions, meaning you will enter payment amounts and process transactions directly on the terminal device.
Before You Begin
Before linking your new terminal, please confirm you have completed the following prerequisites:
- You possess an active Tap merchant account.
- You have received your terminal device from the Tap sales team.
- Your terminal has active SIM or network connectivity.
- The KNET receipt function on the terminal is disabled.
- The required payment application is installed on your terminal device.
Registration Steps
-
Log in to TapOS
Access your merchant account via the TapOS portal using your credentials. -
Navigate to the Terminals Section
From your account dashboard, locate and open the Terminals management area. -
Initiate Terminal Linking
Click the plus (+) or "Link New Terminal" button to begin the process. -
Select Your Account Details
Choose your associated brand, entity, and branch. If you have not yet created a branch, you will be prompted to set one up before proceeding. -
Generate Your Linking Code
The system will produce a unique QR code and a numeric verification code. Keep this screen open. -
Access the Terminal Interface
On your physical payment terminal, navigate to the main menu or settings to find the "Link to Account" or similar option. -
Complete the Link
Choose to either:- Scan the QR code with your terminal's camera, or
- Manually enter the provided verification code.
-
Confirm Successful Activation
A confirmation message will appear on both your TapOS screen and your terminal's display once the link is successfully established.
Next Steps
Your terminal is now ready to process payments. You can begin accepting transactions by manually entering amounts directly on the device.
Important Note for Future POS Integration:
This registration links the terminal to your standalone merchant account. If you later adopt a Point-of-Sale (POS) system, you will need to re-link your terminal through your POS provider's platform to enable automated, system-initiated transactions.
